Where In India
Simplifying travel discovery through community & speed. The antidote to content-heavy travel blogs.
The Challenge
The inspiration was born out of personal frustration. While planning a trip to Pondicherry, I realized the current state of travel research is inefficient. Existing directories are bloated with blog-style content, requiring excessive scrolling just to find a location.
I identified a gap for travelers—students, solo explorers, and weekenders—who didn't want fluff. They wanted trustworthy guidance, visual clarity, and immediate utility.
The Solution
I built Where In India to be the antidote to "scroll fatigue." The core concept is a central hub listing curated places with direct Google Maps integrations, acknowledging that modern navigation relies on maps, not text.
In an era where travel content is increasingly AI-generated, I pivoted to a community-built model. I sourced authentic recommendations from locals to ensure originality and trust.
The Process
Technical execution focused on performance using Astro for a lightweight architecture. The hardest challenge was solving the "content problem" without AI. I executed a heavy two-week outreach campaign on Reddit, engaging with local communities across 5-6 cities.
I also implemented Ahrefs and Google Search Console early to optimize for organic search, ensuring the project wasn't just built, but seen.
